DC 75 – M11 Prerelease, Death Magic, Emblems

It’s Friday once more, and it’s time to launch show 75 into the internetosphere.

This week is quite a short show, but it’s short in three parts. First up is a recap of last weekend’s M11 prerelease in Richmond, London. I go over some of the cards in my sealed pool as well as the deck I eventually played.

Next is an explanation of Death Magic. It’s not as morbid as it sounds, and will be a nice change of pace from regular Magic.

Finally, I explain the new emblem rule that comes into force as of today.

    I’m sad you didn’t get to play all the way through the Pre-Release, I’m sure would’ve had a lot of fun.

    Death Magic seems interesting. You should play RW, cause it has a lot of damage redirection (which would allow you to prevent other players from dying and help you commit suicide) and you can include Volcano Hellion.

    I think another creature that could receive errata is Stigma Lasher, the new wording saying “Whenever Stigma Lasher deals damage to a player, that player gets an emblem with ‘You can’t gain life’.”

    The Death Magic bit sounds like a riot! I think I’d have to go in with U/R. The redirects will allow be to ‘steal’ other player’s lifegain spells, and set up my “secret tech” of Mind Over Matter + Orcish Artillery.

    double up on the artilleries with the orcish and the goblin, then put leyline of punishment so nobody can gain life. you could also bligthning yourself, or splash black for some lacerators, sangrophage, being sacrifced for a Demon at Death’s Gate w/c u would fling to yourself. Load up on painlands and shocklands, plus fetchlands. Dark tutelage and phyrexian arena also helps and ad nauseam for the win. if ur opponent has a lower life than you, you could always repay in kind.
