DC 73 – A Bit of M11, RLL Season 2 Week 7
Podcast: Download (16.5MB)
The warm weather continues in London town, and it’s time to send show 73 up to the worldwide internet!
This week’s show starts with a look at some M11 cards that have been spoiled so far, including a card that I think is the most underrated (so far). I offer some observations for each card, and also talk about a sneaky reprint cycle of sorts that seems to be happening across the core sets!
After that is a quick recap of week 7 of season 2 of the Richmond Legacy League.
As always, your comments, suggestions and thoughts on how to make the England football team better are welcome at show@deckconstruct.com. Also, check out the DC Forums for some friendly MTG and non-MTG chat.
You’ll also find DC in the social world at Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr.
Thanks for listening!

Hello, it is hard for me to find people to play with. If play alone, do you suggest ‘Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers’ video game from steam.

If not, what do you suggest? I welcome to all suggestions.
Thank you.
nobody’s talking about conundrum sphinx? well, check the mtgcast podcasts, also, check top8magic.com…it was their preview card and they are EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXCITED…well not that much really, but this sphinx is not really underrated
also, when would the whining with the “death” of combo decks in magic end? two famous decks in standard right now (Turboland and Mythic Conscription) are essentially combo decks, add Polymorph (if anybody’s still playing it). combo would always be there. johnny will never be killed. have faith! :D
On the power 9 reprints: Gilded lotus is almost exactly what you described as a fair black lotus. Also the moxes have seen reprint if you count things like the timespiral totems as expensive cards that tap for a color. I am sure that other similarly priced mana-producing artifacts exist even though I can’t think of them off the top of my head.
mango: Duels of the Planeswalkers is a nice way to play online, especially if you’re just starting out in Magic. However the decks are fairly limited – they’re basically precons.
Magic Online is the official way to play MTG online, and we have an Magic Workstation (MWS) league in our forums that you might want to check out.
crazyknight27: Top8Magic would be excited about their preview card. :) The thing is, I haven’t seen much talk about the sphinx; everyone seems to be talking about the Titan cycle and certain other cards.
When I say there’s not much combo in Standard, I mean there isn’t really a combo deck that can compete with the likes of NLB or Super Friends. Turboland is combo-ish, true, although I’d say Conscription is more mid-range aggro. Sovereigns into Conscription is like a mini-combo within the deck. Polymorph is definitely a deck you need faith to play. ;)
I really hope Johnny will never be killed, because Magic needs Johnny even if it sometimes doesn’t realise it. :)
interesting view on spoilers thus far. The red enchantment for 5r could give you the 15/15 complete with extra turn. Could prove a scary card for casual play but for tourney? Too unstable I think. The blue layline will prove essential and the sphinx? Crazy. So all in all the rare’s look just as potent as the mythic’s. Def an interesting set (and that’s just the core)
Great episode, and am looking forward to hearing more on how the combo deck develops out!
