While starting to derail the Eldrazi green thread I figured we should have a thread to discuss Rise of the Eldrazi.

I know I am excited about Realms Uncharted, Artisan of Kozilek and All is Dust. In my opinion these are the best cards in the set that we know about. Realms Uncharted is awesome as a cheaper version of gifts ungiven that has the drawback of only hitting land (it should have been able to hit life from loam as well as that would have been broken). Artisan of Kozilek is probably the best eldrazi we have seen as it can get you two (assuming you discard one of the common or uncommon ones) as long as you ramp into it. All is dust is definitely a scary new piece of mass removal that will see play even if the eldrazi don't see competitive play.

What are your guys thoughts on the set so far?

I'm excited about All is Dust too. I can see that being a lot of fun, and I'm also very excited about Kargan Dragonlord. I think that could have a place in Blightning Deck Wins. It's basically a variation on Figure of Destiny, which I loved. I also like the idea of Realms Uncharted, particularly in an Eldrazi deck, as it seems to me that's an easy way to find that Eye of Ugin when you need it most. Gideon Jura has a ton of potential, and I think he could see play alongside Elspeth, not just in control decks. I'd even use him in an Ally deck I think. I'm not sure how successful the Totem Auras will be, as so far I haven't really seen any that I'd put in a Constructed competitive deck, but I really like Virulent Swipe as an instant. The rebound effect looks as though when given the right abilities it could have a powerful effect on a lot of decks.

Okay I've seen most of the spoilers but I haven't seen "All is Dust" yet. Could I get the spoiled text for that one from you guys?

Eye of Ugin and eldrazi temple only let you play it even sooner. And any deck can run it, start second guessing every mid and late game plays you make!

If it's tribal Urgin is going to make that card stupid. If you had three out, it costs 1. 1 mana to kill everything.....and swing for kill. That card alone might make eldrazzi competitive. I was already speculating with someone at breakfast (that's where I went) about my future Eldrazzi deck. Going to probably go home and get my Urgins mailed to me. I can't see it's value going down when that set releases.

I think it will drop to at least $8 if not lower. I think you only want 1 or 2 as it is legendary and you should at least consider running into mirror.

Just managed to talk to the store owners of my local card shop into selling me a playset of them for $20 (If your ever in St.Louis, come play with us at New Castle Cards, I offer to pay for a draft for anyone that mentions they know me from DC). What a great guy. He said that our area thus far hasn't shown any interest in the lands. Hmmm.

Now you will have to pay the obscene price for eldrazi temple, I will bet they are going to be worth more than the eye. If they are relatively cheap I will get them otherwise my copy of Eye of Ugin will be traded for cards that help 50 land (like realms uncharted).

{T}: Add 2 to your mana pool. Spend this mana only to cast colorless Eldrazi spells or activate abilities of colorless Eldrazi.

And this only makes All is Dust even scarier (I mentioned it their too). It is better than Eye of Ugin unless you play multiple eldrazi on one turn or need to tutor something.

Personally im looking forward to Gideon Jura for my UW controldeck and Lighthouse Chronologist for my casual mill deck.

Ill be interested to see the full list of the totem armours, I think they should see competitive play as Thrull Retainer was used historically.

Eh, they are about the same in terms of costs if you look at it this way.
Let's assume the spell I"m casing is Eldrazzi and colorless.
With the Eye, it costs two less, and I could tap it to pay 1, so it's like having 3 mana towards the spell
With the Tem, it costs one less, but I could tap it to pay 2, so it's still having 3 mana towards the spell

So what about it makes it better then the eye? Since the eye has the added feature of Tutoring.
