For me, it's the former. |

Currently starcity has the preorder price at $20. While that is not cheap, it will probably be higher once people realize how good the card is. |

Maybe I'm missing it, but how is he very very good? He doesn't seem to be to me, but then I've always had a difficult time judging the value of black and red cards. I suppose that stems from them being the colors I use the least.

I think hes good, beacuse hes card draw for black and red. And with cards like broodmate dragon and other dragon producers hes a late game cast and win.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
How is Sarkhan the Mad good, let me count the ways:
1. He is a tutor that can generally get at least two cards unless he is attacked. 2. He makes your useless creatures dragons or weakens your opponents huge creatures. 3. He can kill players/planeswalkers if needed. |

Fine, he does not tutor but the additional draw is pretty good. Being a dark confidant that does not make you lose life is very useful. Sorry I tend to exaggerate and not think as much when I have had no sleep.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Sarkhan is good. How is he bad? He's 5 casting cost, pretty likely to turn your gobbo or their eldrazi whatever into a dragon, he draws cards and he's badass if you're playing a deck that gets dragons out anyway. Sure, he's a psycho who only dies. But that's red black. You burn up but hopefully they do too, just faster.
That said, I'm going to work on my blue again. Echo mage, training grounds, mnemonic wall and venerated teacher. Also looking forward to goblin tunneler and surrakar spellblade as a team. hmm.... |

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Now that's pretty nasty.
I reckon there's some fun stuff to try in this expansion. Trying to put together a list based on: 4x Surrakar Spellblade 4x Echo Mage 3x Venerated Teacher 2x Mnemonic Wall 3x Regress 4x Distortion Strike 3x Twitch 3x Into the Roil 3x Training grounds Use the Surrakar, and bump out blockers with regress, twitch and into the roil, but you can be more defensive and use the bounce to keep your stuff safe from removal if you're facing a bit of it. Then throw in some black or white control? |
