RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
I understand you'd want to play the Dragonlord turn 2, but if you don't have it then you don't have it. I was just giving an example. And I apologize, because the way browncoat responded I must have sounded like I believe the Eldrazi will have no effect on Standard whatsoever. I wasn't trying to say that. I was agreeing more than anything else with you browncoat when you said that Eldrazi.dec will likely make an appearance but until we understand the new set more and see what all it has to offer we won't really know how it will affect Standard play. I do hope you're right when you say that Counterspell will come back. I'm aching to sleeve up a playset and do some damage with it. If I had the money for control I would so make it, but with Jace being so expensive I can't justify my spending that much money on him. And I wasn't around when Wall of Blossoms was printed, so this card excites me! It'll be alot of fun!

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
I'm eager to see a new counter spell too. I'm saddened that the two mana counter spells of yester-year are all long since gone. I always was a fan of both fighting control and playing it. To me any card over $20 is overpriced, and Jace is no exception. They are still just cardboard with ink on them no matter how many are made.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Is Deprive the counterpell you guys are dreaming of? It seems amusing but not that great, especially early game when control really needs the help.
Vengevine continues the trend of printing overpowered cards for mono-green. Yay! |

Agreed! Suddenly white/green Aggro looks oh so appealing to me! I love Vengevine! Perhaps even Bant control will find a place in Standard again! Who knows? And I'm not impressed with Deprive...I'm hoping you're right about Counterspell!

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
The idea supposedly is to slow down the game with the cards they've designed, (perhaps with defenders and stuff like alara's intimidation bolt) There's a lot of exciting cards coming that'll make for great testing, but green-red has a niiiiice combo I like with Mul-daya channelers and Explosive revelation. I really like the look of that. I like both cards individually too, though revelation is a bit pricey but I see it as worthwhile.
The Channelers make you play with your top library card revealed and get 5/5 if it's a creature and they get a: tap for two of >ANY< one colour if it's land. The revelation lets you reveal down to a nonland and keep that card, dealing damage equal to the converted mana cost. Wait for one of your fatties and then unleash the pain for a finisher in the late game. But even on it's own the revelation is a way to deal damage and draw a card for red. If you're in a circumstance where you really need something castable to change the battlefield. Also, the MDC's if the land IS up can get you random damage and card-draw on turn four, particularly if you're playing with higher amounts of bigger casting cards. The white wall is amusing. Cycling is usually 2 mana odd. You get to cycle this card and keep the 0/4 wall! Surrakar spellblade looks like a fun control deck addition. If you can keep his path clear, he'll refill your hand in repayment and give you a great shot at keeping control of things. Not too impressed by levellers. The dragonlord is a nice unveiled threat, which is their major draw. However, I like the transcendant and the echo mage. 6/6 lifelink will draw people's attention. And hopefully he'll draw the removals before you cast baneslayer. Echo mage might be a bit pricey but at level 2 he does go 2/4 which is handy and the copy effect is sweet. And the level 4 ability is insane if you can get him there. So want to try him first but I love the potential. |

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Limited keeps getting more fun with all the cards that look at cmc. My new favorite card from the set is Inquisition of Kozilek (sadly not the unexpected Spanish). Why not print an improved version of thoughtseize? Eldrazi.dec will probably be based around Spawnsire of Ulamog. It may be difficult to ramp up the necessary mana but the 20: swarm the field with eldrazi ability is pretty awesome, even if it is win-more.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Does anyone have any links to some of these spoilers. I can't view a lot of key sites at work and I'm trying to find the spoilers here on some sites that aren't blocked due to the meta-tag of games.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Uh, that top one even with it's 20 mana cost..... Scary.
Play any Eldrazzi spell you have outside of the game? The 20 mana cost though does make it considerably weak. Thanks for the spoilers. Appreciated. Deck Construct MWS League. RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Note that you get to cast them which lets you take another turn with Emrakul, draw cards of kozilek, grab another creature with the artisan and win as you clear their board with annihilator when you attack the next turn. I'm not sure how hard it will be to ramp into the 20 mana but it is definitely something people will be trying.

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
Im sure someone will make a green mana ramp deck that will give it a go. If i manage to get a few I might make a casual deck with it in mind.
Im sure some green deck with pop up with it in mind. I might even try and make a casual blue/green mana ramp deck if i get enough of the eldrazi to make it worth while. Or would be a solid card in EDH |

RE: [Spoilers] Rise of the Eldrazi set discussion
And I am still waiting for the cheap spawn token generator that will help ramp into the eldrazi and make hand of emrakul an aggro creature as well as make some of these high cost eldrazi playable. Green seems like the right color to power out these guys but cards like renegade doppelganger make me wonder about other colors getting the power to abuse the eldrazi easily.

I don't want to pay the ridiculous cost that I'm sure he'll go for, but I'm really excited to try to build a deck around the new Sarkhan card...
