Mono White
So here's the deck I was using to test Everflowing Chalice:
Land: 14 plains 4 Terramorphic Expanse 2 Dread Statuary 1 Kabira Crossroads Creatures: 2 Steppe Lynx 2 Soul Warden 1 Palace Guard 1 Wall of Faith 1 World Queller 2 Lightkeeper of Emeria 2 Devout Lightcaster 1 Iona, Shield of Emeria Other Spells: 2 Pacifism 1 Luminarch Ascension 1 Gleam of Resistance 4 Rest for the Weary 3 Narrow Escape 2 Brave the Elements 4 Journey to Nowhere 1 Conqueror's Pledge 2 Join the Ranks 2 Solemn Offering 3 Safe Passage 2 Everflowing Chalice So that's the deck I tried out. Aside from bad draws it did well against the black decks my buddies threw at it. I feel like I should add another Iona in place of a Rest for the Weary. I'm also thinking of replacing the Everflowing Chalices with Armillary Spheres. The Chalice is nice but just wasn't cut out for this particular deck. I know there were a few other things I wanted to toss in like another Luminarch but I can't remember all the changes I wanted to make at this point. |

RE: Mono White
Wow, it is not often I can suggest removing most of the deck. This is definitely not the deck that everflowing chalice belongs in. Looking at the deck I will keep the suggestions fairly budget friendly. You should be able to get these cheaply as singles online or at a local shop.
creatures: soul warden you already have this but up the number to 4 elite vanguard another solid one-drop that remains solid throughout the game unlike the lynx white knight an amazing card even if you are not playing against black veteran armorsmith while you may not play many soldiers a 2/3 for 2 is always good and it provides a bonus of buffing some of your other creatures kor hookmaster additional disruption devout lightcaster either keep the number at 2 or put them in the sideboard emeria angel while it may be a bit above what you want to pay, the angel is relatively cheap and a solid card turning your topdecked lands into creatures removal: oblivion ring journey to nowhere Both are commons and are solid. other spells: conquerer's pledge token generator, as a bonus the tokens are soldiers honor of the pure way lower in price than it should be but I understand if it is more than you want to pay brave the elements up the number to 3 or 4 lands: just stick to plains for consistency maybe keep the 2 dread sanctuaries Remember to try to have 4 copies of these cards in the deck to draw them consistently. |

RE: Mono White
What is the goal of this deck?
Mono white has a lot of options in terms of decks, and I see parts of them all over here. Just none of them full decks. If you are going to play Luminarch Ascension and you are hoping to get it off at all, I might suggest that you include more fogs then just the 3 Safe passages that you have. You also have AngelSong for covering that. I see Step Lynx which to me only performs if you are playing a deck based around land fall. I'm not seeing overly huge pools of that going on in this deck so I would assume not the direction you were headed? Iona in a deck that doesn't have any other way to get her out besides paying her mana cost? I wouldn't suggest this, without acceleration or anything there is a slim to none chance you will ever get her out. Is there a reason you are only featuring one of certain creatures in your deck? I have never played a deck that included any less then 2 of any given creature. You want to get to your power cards/ Win condition cards as fast as you can. I'm guessing from looking at the list this just happens to be cards that you already have? Deck Construct MWS League. Season 2 is just around the corner.Sign ups have started! RE: Mono White
I would have to agree. I see several decks in the making here, but all of them muddled into one deck list will get you nowhere. While I'm inclined to think that Steppe Lynx can be powerful outside of a landfall deck, I don't see its purpose in this one. I would suggest streamlining both your creatures and your spells: more four of creatures and less of one and two. If you're going for beatdown, then obviously a lot of one-drops and two-drops will benefit you. If you wish to play Iona, I would suggest going W/G. Green's mana acceleration will give you the option of trying to lock your opponent down much quicker than waiting it out for 9 mana to appear in the normal fashion. Additionally, Rest for the Weary, Gleam of Resistance, and Narrow Escape are nice cards, but don't belong in a deck like this, especially if you're going for beatdown. I'd add Path to Exile and make Brave the Elements a four of.

RE: Mono White
And this is why I'll still be playing draft and sealed for a while. I seem to be better at putting stuff together in those formats lol.
Okay well as you can all tell, my ability to build decks is, sub-par, to be nice? It was a deck I built with cards I had in my box which is partially why it's all over the place, the other part is I need to work on picking out which cards work better with other cards. Much of what you all have said is stuff I figured out as well, the problem was/is that I don't have enough of a knowledge of the exact cards that would help me. I was going for a control deck the culminated with getting Iona out, but as was mentioned I don't have the mana acceleration I need. That's a problem I wasn't able to solve really on my own so I came here. The feedback I've seen so far is going to be very helpful and I'm thankful to you all for it. I was actually thinking of making a white green deck for more or less casual play since I have Avenger Zendikar and figured that Ruin Ghost would help trigger landfall. |

RE: Mono White
I have several questions for you. First, are you planning on making this G/W deck specifically a landfall deck? I made a fairly efficient, budget landfall deck early on in Zendikar, so if you need help in that venue I can definitely assist you. Since Lotus Cobra has dropped so dramatically in price, you should be able to make the deck fairly easily and still include Ruin Ghost to make your landfall drops even more effective.
Second, if you want to make a control deck, do you need it to be legal for Standard play? Because if not, I would follow Alex's suggestion from show 43. He uses Iona, Shield of Emeria coupled with Painter's Servant from the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor block. The combo works as follows: you play Iona, naming a color you don't want your opponent to cast. The Servant makes all spells in the game that color, locking out the opponent. |

RE: Mono White
It would be a landfall deck so if I could get that list that would be amazing, and thank you.
I don't remember that combo for the white control but I like that and I think I'll use it. I'd like it to be standard or extended legal, but I will also be using it in casual so I can use that combo. |

RE: Mono White
I've made a Standard Version of Iona on MTGO that seems to work out just fine. I'm going from memory only here so bare with me.
4x Path to Exile 4x Oblivion Ring 4x Day of Judgement 4x Elvish Piper 4x Harrow 4x Scute Mob 2x Iona, Shield of Emeria 4x Summoning Trap 4x Captain of the Watch 4x Sunpetal Grove 2x Emeria Sky Ruin 12x Plains 5x Forest The idea behind this deck was to keep my opponents side of the field empty while I waited on Iona and a way to get her out. Once she was out I used the Scute mobs to beat for the win, or Iona if the opponent doesn't use fliers. Anytime the opponent was playing multicolored I always took the color with the most removal I had seen. The reason that I decided on the pricey Captain of the watch was that often I didn't see Iona off the summoning trap and I find that the captain of the watch is easy to get out and keep out with Emeria. I've had this deck end in turn 5 lots of times, but it can survive into much later game. Deck Construct MWS League. Season 2 is just around the corner.Sign ups have started!
