Robots!
This is the deck that I talked about in DC 96 and 97, and played at the Legacy event on day 2 of GP London. I should have posted it earlier and Viki's request on Twitter nudged me.

RE: Robots!
Ive just started putting together my own affinity list, and was wondering, is the Master of Etherium in place of the Ravagers?
also, what do you think of Ezuri's Brigade for this deck? |

RE: Robots!
Messing with affinity is fun especially with scars. At first I thought that removing thoughtcast was heretical then started thinking about it and will now agree that preordain is better.
my current list is: lands: 4 darksteel citadel 4 seat of the synod 4 vault of whispers 4 tree of tales (or another artifact land, sideboard dependant). creatures: 4 ornithopter 4 memnite 4 signal pest 4 disciple of the vault 4 arcbound ravager 4 vault skirge 3 master of etherium 4 frogmite spells: 4 cranial plating 4 preordain 4 springleaf drum 1 mox opal sideboard: 4 duress 3 tormods crypt other undecided stuff, possibly including 3-4 mental misstep though I may be overestimating it like everybody else. Also thinking about phyrexian revoker/pithing needle. Krosan grip is also a possibility though its cost is a bit high. My main plan for this deck is to bluff, most affinity decks have 4 etched champion and 3-4 tezzeret agent of bolas. While I like the champion this deck is very aggressively curved making answers saved to deal with those 2 be held too long. I really feel that you need the ravagers and disciples. Disciple is nasty not only with the ravagers but against hate. First it is not an artifact making most hate not work against it and disciple makes the mass artifact removal very painful. Ravager is nasty not just as a smashy creature that combos with the disciple but provides extra use for your creatures even with the changes to the stack. I would personally advise against adding the basic lands to the maindeck that you mentioned in the podcast. When conflux was released I added a basic mountain and island to my 18 land manabase, leaving me with 16 artifact lands. I felt this disrupted my mana too much for affinity but with the 4 inkwell nexus you have far too few artifact lands. The nexus seems pretty nasty at times as an alternate win condition but those times almost always seem like overkill when you could just do damage instead. Also to answer Hobojackel about the brigades: I think they cost too much at 4 especially with GG. Affinity does not generally find it that hard to get mana of any color, but getting 2 is pushing it. If it lands it will probably stomp most people but actually getting it too hit play will be hard. Satisne sanus es? |
