[EXT] Jund
Well, with a ptq in my area coming up faster than i would like, I've got my decklist ready to go.
It's sideboard is a little unorthodox, but that's one thing that I've been hoping to rely on in matches where my opponent would usually be expecting something else. Ive played this list at my local card store in two tourneys now, ones specifically designed for getting ready for the ptq at the end of next month and both times its performed well, all of my matchups being matchups that I've wanted to test against. The store that I'm playing at allows decks with as many proxys as the player would like, giving everyone the chance to play with and against the top decks at the moment, making them all the more relevant for testing. // Deck file for Magic Workstation (http://www.magicworkstation.com) // Lands 1 [WWK] Lavaclaw Reaches 2 [M11] Forest (4) 2 [ALA] Savage Lands 4 [EVE] Twilight Mire 4 [SOM] Blackcleave Cliffs 2 [FUT] Graven Cairns 2 [ZEN] Verdant Catacombs 1 [ZEN] Mountain (4) 1 [UNH] Swamp 2 [SOM] Copperline Gorge 1 [TE] Reflecting Pool 4 [WWK] Raging Ravine // Creatures 1 [ARB] Anathemancer 4 [ARB] Putrid Leech 4 [SHM] Fulminator Mage 3 [M11] Fauna Shaman 2 [MBS] Glissa, the Traitor 4 [FNM] Bloodbraid Elf 4 [PRE] Demigod of Revenge // Spells 4 [4E] Lightning Bolt 2 [MPR] Terminate 2 [MPR] Blightning 4 [ARB] Maelstrom Pulse // Sideboard SB: 4 [MPR] Volcanic Fallout SB: 3 [SOM] Memoricide SB: 2 [M11] Obstinate Baloth SB: 3 [MOR] Bitterblossom SB: 3 [SHM] Kitchen Finks So, the choice of having Fulminator Mage in the sideboard was a rather easy one, seeing as not having them is simply an auto-lose against decks like Valukut ramp or even the mirror. Having them in the main deck is extremely good for keeping my opponents off having the mana to have a 4th-turn play. The inclusion of the one MBS card in this deck, Glissa has also been a great addition to this deck. untapped, she can sit on the field and completely stop my opponents from attacking me on the ground, as often they wouldn't want to loose their creatures without wasting a removal spell on killing her, which leaves more room for you to resolve and untap with a fauna shaman on the field and start putting Demigods into the graveyard. Now, the sideboard choices. Kitchen Finks Well, i really don't think i need to explain this one, but for those that are new to the game, or don't know what Jund does, its simple. These guys are hard to kill, often times taking a removal spell and a combat death, at the same time giving back 4 life, and at 3 mana, it's great against the faster, mono red decks Bitterblossom This is where the sideboard gets rather unique. I, personally haven't seen any other jund lists that have this card anywhere near them. but after testing with it, its a really good card that comes in when i suspect my opponent has the ability to use Memoricide to remove my win conditions from the game, or when my opponent mainly uses creatures that don't fly. This usually comes in against the Naya decks and also against the mirror in some cases. Obstinate Baloth Usually the Jund decks either run Kitchen Finks instead of this guy, or vice versa, but the problem with having both Putrid Leech in the main deck and Bitterblossoms in the sideboard is that I'm loosing a lot of life in the process. Especially against the decks that run things like the ever popular Blightning, i will bring these in over the finks. Memoricide Another rather odd inclusion for this deck is the addition of Memoricide. Often times Jund is a little too fast to run this, but it i know that my opponent is trying to play the conscription-style decks, i can use this to get rid of the enchantment before it sees play. Volcanic Fallout. Back to the old regulars. This card is hardly new to the sideboard of the Jund deck simply because it can sweep the goblin board and more importantly the Fairy deck. The fact that it cannot be countered makes it a real bomb against both decks and keeps most of Jund's creatures alive in the process as they have a rather high toughness. |

RE: [EXT] Jund
You should consider runing executioner's capsule. This in combination with glissa basically reads pay three mana kill target nonblack creature, repeat. The only downside is that it isn't that great coming off of Bloodbraid.
