U/B Myr
Lands
~~~~~~~ x14 Island X6 Swamp Creatures ~~~~~~~ x4 Platinum Angel x4 Silver Myr x4 Palladium Myr x1 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre x1 Psycosis Crawler x2 Lighthouse Chronologist x2 Pierce Strider x2 Roil Elemental x2 Plauge Myr x1 Myr Propagator x1 Shimmer Myr x3 Myr Sire x3 Myr Galvanizer x4 Leaden Myr x2 Ichorclaw Myr Spells ~~~~~~~ x4 Cancel x2 Turn the Tide Artifacts ~~~~~~~ x2 Bonehoard x2 Heavy Arbalest x1 Argentum Armor x4 Whispersilk cloak x1 Myr Turbine x1 Tower of Calamities Planeswalkers ~~~~~~~~~ x1 Liliana Vess x1 Jace Beleren x1 Sorin Markov This deck was built to keep my opponents of balance. Myrs flood the battlefeild early game creating a wall of protection and extra mana. The extra mana is then used to summon creatures like Platinum Angel or Roil Elemental to bog the game down. Liliana can dig for other cards you need to keep your opponent of balance or set up an infinite mana loop. Cancel stops your opponents spells from threating your affairs while turn the tide can blunt an enemy assault or make yours more effective. Myr Turbine keeps the myrs coming and Tower of Calamities can clear large creatures out of the way. Lighthouse Cronologist gives you extra time to work your combos or Sorin can steal your oppponents turns. Late game Liliana Vess can return all your dead myrs from the grave or take advantage of them being dead and use Bonehoard on Plague Myr or Ichorclaw Myr to realy put a dent in your opponents defences. (Lol i just relized i wrote this third person and ill stop here cause if i keep going we'll have a entire book on combos and things.) "I go against the flow of everyone else. People turn to one tactic i turn to a different tactic. They turn to one card i turn to a different card. By staying different from everyone else no one knows what i'll have and i can surprize and most likely destroy my opponent from his lack of preparedness." |
RE: Platinum Insanity
Now i do find myself going over the standard 60 cards alot but i go up against alot of mill decks where i play so my decks usaly hit the 72 mark but thats where i draw the line.
RE: U/B Myr
Personally I keep to my rule of 60 cards always trying to draw the most effect out of a given card. This particular deck does a lot but it isn't going to be consistent at doing any particular thing that it's set up for.
Personally I don't like Sorin, He's not good in most cases because there are so many better six drops out there to occupy the slot. I'd rather have another Lilliana or another Jace to increase my chance of getting them since they are way more useful. While I like lighthouse Chronologist he's not really worth having unless you can play him and level him fully in the same turn. Reason being that he's a lightening rod for removal and anyone playing a decent deck should have something to get rid of him. Plague myr, while useful for tapping for that extra mana isn't the most useful being that he has infect and you arne't playing an infect deck, so I would most like cut him out. I could see something like this working, it's kind of a tool box, but you don't really have that many ways to get to your tools. There is Lilliana for tutoring and Jace for some card draw but in truth you are going to be moving at your decks pace which is likely going to hurt you in the long run. You also are running a lot of creatures with abilities that are cool but only if you can really use them more then once. You need some kind of recursion. While I Like the idea of running blue/black most of what you using black for is tutoring. I would just go blue white and use blue for card draw and white to keep things alive. x2 Platinum Angel x4 Silver Myr x4 Perilous Myr x3 Roil Elemental x4 Myr Sire x4 Myr Galvanizer Spells x4 Stoic Rebuttal Artifacts ~~~~~~~ 3x Prototype portal x1 Argentum Armor x4 Myr Turbine x1 Tower of Calamities Planeswalkers ~~~~~~~~~ x2Venser, the Sojourner x2 Jace Beleren My list would probably look more something like that. Using white and blue for removal and card drawl to flood the field with little myr and using venser to blink lands for the Roils ability or else to blink out the peace strider if you keep them, so their abilities are more useful then just being dumped out there once. My favorite white card I didn't include cause he's a six drop but it is really hard to go wrong with a sun titan or two. They are awesome cards to bring back other things you want. Best part is he can be used to combo with your roil elemental and sac lands. Use titan to bring a land back, sac it, and do a land drop in one turn. That's roil taking three creatures over in a single move with zero mana being used. Pretty sweet. I"d just take a good look at what you like and focus on making it happen more often as oppossed to building something that does so much but not consistantly. I'll continue more later, but I"m at work and need to get back to it. Deck Construct MWS League. Season 2 is just around the corner.Sign ups have started! Check back soon for details! RE: U/B Myr
Yeah limited resources does make things harder. Got to go with what cards that you have. Reasonably you can get the myr that your missing for a really good myr deck cheap since most players aren't using myr right now. You really want to lock down a set of those perilous myr as well as the Turbine. They are essential to myr decks period. I normally don't see too many myr decks without the myr battlesphere finisher either. Not that it's essential but it does help and it's not outrageously priced.
I'm not a fan of Myr propagator as he's not really that good. Your better off with another common in white Myr smith. The chick that anytime a myr comes into play, you can pay (1) and put another myr into play. The prototype portal might be harder to come by and isn't neccesary, it was just a suggestion. A galvanizer under that thing is lethal. I'm not sure the going rate on little jace or Venser but if they aren't unreasonable they would help the deck out. That or you could sub jace for a howling mine. This type of deck that likes to dump it's hand really benefits from having some extra card draw around. Maybe instead of Venser you could use Aether Tradewinds if you have a copy. It's like a one time use of vensors ability. Deck Construct MWS League.
