Is anyone from the deck construct forum going to these?
Im looking at going, and thought it would be cool to play against and chat with people from the forum

If I didn't live in the States or could afford the sudden airfair cost I would totally be done. But alas I'm broke and in the middle of the States.

This year's Nats is a 20 minute bus ride from my house, so if all goes well I plan to be there for all four days shooting video. The plan is to edit and post the video on the same day, although as with any good plan things might go sideways! (That reminds me, must finish the intro for the videos).

I might play Legacy, too. Oh, and EDH! There's always some EDH going on at big events like Nats. Gonna bring ETH (Elder Tog Highlander), now with foil Atogatog!

Cool, im hopping to go thursday to give the girnders a go on if work gives me the day off.

If not im planning to go sat for some of the 2HG fun, and maybe some casual standard play.

Well I went and played the LCQ Constructed, I piloted UW control and played against the following

Round 1 - Jund
Game 1 - Was a long game of countering and dealing with creatures that got through. But I managed to not take any damage and won on 26 life.
Game 2 - My oponent had an amazing start, and It was over before I could do much.
Game 3 - He got mana screwd and tectonic edge helped me keep it that way.

Round 2 - UW mirror
Game 1 - After my opponent cast Elspeth, and I didnt draw an O'ring it was game over
Game 2 - I cast Jace beleren on turn 4 into my oppents untapped land, he countered as I hoped then cast a Jace TMS. Which allowed me to telemin perfomance on my turn milling half his deck and getting a sun titan, which I beat him down with.
Game 3 - I managed to telemin performance his mid game milling all his remaining counters and leaving him about 6 cards, again getting a sun titan. He scooped the next turn when i cast my own sun titan, unfortunately for my opponent he had 3 wall of omens under the sun titan in his deck.

Round 3 - Jund
Game 1 - I lost after a long game, bloodbraid into blighting for the win was to good.
Game 2 - I won this from my opponent have to muligan to 5 and having 1 land. I started with a great hand of counters removal and land.
Game 3 - My opponent keep a two land hand, as he had two putrid leaches. But I played a wall turn 2 and o-ring'd them both. Landed a turn 5 Gideon. and beat him down.

Round 4 - UW mirror
Game 1 - I had more counters than he did, and beat him down with celestial colonade.
Game 2 - Telemin performance was a star and got me a sphynix of Jar isle, which beat him down. One shame on this game was my opponent cast a sphynix himself and I was one short of gather specimens so had to counter it.

Rounds 4&5 - Naya Sharmen
Both these rounds/games went the same way, I was beat down by Vengvine. The only difference was, round 4 i was on the top table.

Round 4 - Turbo land
Both these games were just him playing losts of land, taking extra turns and beating me with big guys. Game 2 I did manage to gather specimins his butcher, but made a game error and left the wrong mana untapped a few turns later. which lead to my jace being killed him bouncing his butcher back to hand.

I think the day went well, a little gutting that I faced 3 decks I had really bad match ups with in the critical rounds. When there was alot of Jund and UW control on the top table. 4 of the people I played qualified for the nats, and my tie breaks left me the top of my points group, so that something i guess.

I did manage to see some mad tech on a mono blue deck, which once ive built it i'll post it on here.

I went back for more on the sat, it started off bad. I entered a rottisary draft, I was third in the pick and got a primevil titan. And made a so so RG deck with destructive force, but I managed to come 7th. And thats only because the 8th player, conceded every game so he could go back to bed.

Round 1
Game 1 - no red mana, and got beat down by elite vanguard and honour of the pure.
Game 2 - I managed to cast primevil titan and destructive force.
Game 3 - I got mana flooded.

Round 2
Game 1 - my opponent had some sick Green black deck. which he beat me down with.
Game 2 - was the same.

Round 3
I got the bye.

But my day got better when I tried my luck against the pro who was gunslinging.
I managed to cast a telemin performance, and hit a grave titan, which with the aid of Gideon I beat his face in.
Although I do think his deck lucked out on him, but the best bit is that the booster I won for winning had a Grave titan in!!! Plus its kinda cool to say I beat a pro, I think it was Olivier Ruel not 100% sure of his name (Maybe Alex you will know if I'm remembering it right).

I then went into the 2hg sealed, and the best card I opened was a bird of paridise. We did pants, but i think some of the decks were suspect as one team had a grave titan, sun titan and frost titan plus a few other rare bombs.

All in all I thought the two days I went were good fun for magic, if not a little poor on the organisation. There was alot of standing around during rounds and events. and none of the judges ever seemed to know how long was left in the rounds.
