Deck Help
Friend of mine wants me to post this for her.
Alright, need help with a deck. New to the scheme of it and it's made up of 2 starter decks (1 from M10 and 1 from Zendikar) and some extra cards Penguin gave me. Now if you can, recommend me some good cards that won't put me in debt please. I don't need 4 Baneslayer Angel's or anything like that. Just good cards that will help me win casual, fun games. Ok. So my current deck so far: Quote:Creatures: Thanks in advance guys! |

RE: Deck Help
Okay since you don't specify the format and have pulse of the dross and dark ritual, I am going to assume that it can can build with legacy legal cards.
I am going to be blunt, most of those cards are terrible. Vampire aristocrat is great in a gravepact based deck but not that great without being able to abuse sacrifices. Most of the m10 cards are really horrible. You do have a reasonable core for vampires. I would get/finish playsets of nighthawk, gatekeeper, and vampire hexmage (these guys cost around a dollar a piece but are worth it). Bloodghast is crazy but may beyond your budget so can be cut. Malakir bloodwitch and kalastria highborn are pretty good and you may not even want playsets though again may be on the edge of what you consider affordable. For spells I would get 2-3 more dark rituals (personal preference). Then add some more discard and removal. Duress, inquisition of kozilek, mind sludge, and hymn to tourach should all be pretty affordable. For removal you should be able to get some more doomblades and some smother. Otherwise black gets a number of silly cards that have been printed over the years that are at least amusing, and can help keep the deck more casual. |

RE: Deck Help
If you can afford it buy the liliana vs garruk starter set. That will give you some bad moons to use, and planeswalker for your deck and one you can trade for something else. Or the black planechase deck is pritty good, and gives you the extra fun of the planechase cards. I dont remember whats in the deck, but it was a gravepact a helldozer (I think that his name, destroys land and untaps if its a non basic), plus loads of zombies.
You definately want to have a playset of night hawks they make a black deck. as your only building a casual deck I think you've got a base you can work from. We all started with decks that would suck out at a FNM but do well at the kitchen table. |

RE: Deck Help
Butcher of Malakir is lots of fun in casual. My friends groan when their doom blades and lightning bolts kill off their creatures as well! Also, that new Captivating Vampire from M11 is fun for vampire tribal decks. Both are in starter packs if im not mistaken, Butcher in Worldwake and Captivating Vamp in M11
