This deck is a slightly modified version of a deck "Bamboozled" that I saw on the internet that is working very well for me on mtgo. Its very fast and is based around raid bombardment, but doesn't need it to win. I really wanted to make a tournament worthy deck around this card since I saw it in the last set.

There is a nice synergy with Chandra's Spitfire from 2011 that I want to incorperate to this deck. Her ability allows her to pump up for each non combat damage dealt to opponent. So if I had 2 goblins and her attack, three raid bombards trigger and she gets +9/+0. I am stuggling if its worth it to work it in and break the goblin synergy with siege gang commander.

The other idea was to work in 2 more Ember Haulers as it works great in this deck, but no haste and it does slow it down a bit.

The second question I had is how to sideboard against the decks that are running right now - Naya, Bant, RDW, Mythic, etc...

I have the Grotag Siege-Runner against U/W control and more specifically wall of omens as the siege runner can blow up and kill it and also deal 2 damage to the opponent. Magma spray is against recursion (Venge, Ghast). Forked bolt is for mythic on their mana guys (birds, nobles, cobras) and can kill 2 at a time. Quenchable Fire is one I put in against non blue decks for that extra oomph.

Any thoughts or advice you can give me would be welcome.

The deck is basically discard control. Make the opponent discard like crazy, get a Caress or a creature on the board, and do damage. Making them discard will hopefully also buy some time.

A friend suggested Nyxathid during a phone call last Friday. I said I wanted to play some sort of discard deck, and 'thid just happens to have the same CC as Specter, plus it works nicely with discard. There are only 3 because it's a bit more situational than Specter is.

The black spells focus on discard, and this gives me a chance to play Liliana Vess (the Lorwyn printing, which to me is still just rare!) which can be a wincon in a pinch. If someone plays Sun Titan Control then Inquisition will get better as that deck relies on 3cc and below. Esper Charm is awesome because it can destroy Leylines, make the opponent discard and let me draw cards.

White's role in the deck is removal with Path and O-Ring, and it contributes to discarding with Esper Charm, which is a 3-of because of its awkward mana cost.

Blue is in for Mana Leak, sideboard cards and the Charm. Drowned Catacomb makes it a bit easier to hit blue mana when I need it.

The sideboard is just extra answers. If my opponent loves their Mana Leaks, board in Dispel ("I don't have to pay three, just one!"); if up against Jund, then Spreading Seas their lands and so on. Relic is there to answer Vengevine and Sun Titan, and Lightmine Field is a random inclusion in case someone plays a token deck (at Richmond, there's always one!).

It's still a work in progress but the goal is to cycle through the deck quickly, feeding the landfall for early strikes with the geopede and using the lotus cobra to getting out the bigger boys as early as possible. The original win condition was to build up Ob Nixilis and draining my opponents life just using his landfall ability, but with his swinging, and a couple copies of Overwhelming Stampede I think that this deck will be able to win without him. Outside of the removal I kept everything inside what will remain standard after the rotation, then I suppose I will need to replace it. This deck has only been tested a single time online and it was not correct in the mana fixing. I didn't play nearly enough black mana sources in the original list.

The Elixir of Immortality might confuse some. I have it in there to cycle the spells such as cultivate and Harrow back into the deck. Also gaining the five life has won me a few games in limited and I want to test it in a construct format. What do you think?]]>

I did open a few fun cards that helped make the game more enjoyable for me though. My rare pulls looked like this:

Honestly when I saw that I had the Lich I wanted to use him bad. But my black pool didn't really make black a practical color for me to play. I didn't have anything creature wise outside of him and a bog raiders. Not a good enough pile at all. I looked at Red but with ZERO burn spells truthfully also not a color I wanted to go into. My blue pool was decent but because of the Dual-Land I decided on a green/White build.

I didn't realize earlier when I was going through my cards what a great little set of cards I had to play G/W. And mixed with one of the greatest cards I think for limited Elixir of Immortality I was set. Do not diss on this card it won me almost every single one of my games for it's dumb ability to get my graveyard back.

I didnt' realize one thing about this deck. With cultivate, Garruk's Packleader, and my Elixer of Imortality, this deck cycled through very very quickly. I was able to thin my deck out so much that I was dropping a creature nearly every turn and drawing more cards because of the Packleader. I wound up putting out the mitotic Slime and letting it die only to bring it back with Nature's spiral or to shuffle it back in with the Immortality. Pretty nice little combo.

I did pretty well in the first few rounds. First game I played a R/B deck run by a guy named James. It featured a few vampires including the new replacement for Noctornus and some lightning bolts. Fortunately for me the leyline was in both opening hands and I was able to stomp 2/0 because of his in-ability to hit me directly with his burn spells. He was relying on the creature that is a 1/3 flying that becomes a 4/3 if your opponent took non-combat damage that turn. Needless to say I never took that damage.

Second game I played was close. I was playing a R/G deck where the guy had both Chandra and Garruk on his side in both our games. The first game looked bleak until I was able to draw my Leyline yet again and then Gain enough life to come back. I was able to swing for my win with my 7/7 Worm for game one. game two was even closer. I was at one life before the game was done and was save by my elixer. Probably one of the closest and best matches of my life.

Third game I played the highest ranking player at the shop. Doug had a red/Green deck that packed the leyline preventing lifegain, as well as the new version of over-run. Needless to say he won both games very easily preventing my life gain, dropping one of his two Yvimaya Wurms, and then the over-run to wreck me. I was looking for the fog that I had, but never was able to draw it in time.

Fourth game I played my buddy Jon who came with me to the event. Jon was playing a deck featuring sun-Titan and Three of the hawks that once played allow you to search your deck for the remaining hawks. Our match up would have been better but I spent the entire first game drawing lands. 10 full turns of drawing nothing but land is quite frustrating. After a pile shuffle, I went on to lose game two for the exact same reason. For kicks we played a third game while waiting for the others to finish where my deck finnaly performed but he still was able to beat me.

I place 5th there, and all and all had a really great time. I managed to draw a bolt and another elixer in my prize pack so I was satisfied.]]>

I'm definitely hoping I pull a strong presence in white. Picking up the white ley line I think would be an awesome advantage in limited. Shroud for yourself with so little removal in the set for Enchantment? Definitely hoping to see this as one of my rares. Going through each color I see at least one mammothly huge creature which I could see being the win card for just about any deck. Picking one up as a nice beat down win condition would also be nice to see.]]>

I'm looking for three people to act as forum moderators. They would become Super Moderators (i.e. they'd be able to moderate any forum) and be given the ability to do the usual moderator-ish things like moving and closing threads, give warnings to people and just generally keep the peace around here. Basically, they'd be normal users with the ability to do something about troublemakers, keeping the DC forums a nice place for all!

I enjoy going to FNM to test my decks. Winning isn't as important as seeing how well my creations do against the current meta. In my hometown FNM is very big and all of the powerhouse standerd decks are present such as Jund, Mythic, Vamps, RDW, RUW walker control, and a variety of other basment creations.

I plan on posting about the various FNM events I plan on going to starting with one tonight. If anyone else has any coll FNM stories, feel free to join in. Big Grin]]>

I just found the podcast (and thus, the forums), and I was hoping I could get some advice from some of you.

I'm a veteran CCG/TCG player. Been playing card games since around 1993, some at the expert level. However, aside from back in 1991 when it first started, I've never played MTG.

Though I understand the game mechanics, I'm effectively a complete newbie.

I recently starting collecting. I've got a good set of Zendikar so far, with a moderate amount of Worldwake and Eldrazi. Got some core 2010, but I'm saving my money for 2011. I have very little from the Alara block.


I need your help...

1. What mistakes do you see new players/collectors making? What general advice do you have?

2. I'm a bit overwhelmed when it comes to deck ideas. I need some advice on some directions in which I should go.

I'm not intimidated by more advanced strategies, so feel free to make complicated suggestions. I'm a veteran CCG player, and I understand the basics and terminology (though not card-specific slang) of MTG. But my gameplay has been limited to the Xbox. I've found some game shops in my area, but they seem to mainly do tournaments and not much casual play, so I'm a little worried about bringing some newbie elf deck to a slaughterhouse.

I'm not rich, but I'm willing to pick up some singles if I need to. Otherwise, I've just been picking up whatever the most recent expansion is (or should I concentrate on a specific set?). I don't have a ton of cards, so I'm trying to get ideas on where I should focus my collecting based on what deck themes I should be working toward.

So... Any advice? Please, I'll listen to any suggestions or tips you're willing to pass on.

If you are interested in being part of the league, simply contact myself or Artic Penguin. When we have the league up and running scores will be displayed in this thread. Scores will be displayed in points. Each victory of a match will result in 1 point being earned. At the end of a "season" we will have a declared winner. That winner will receive whatever prize there is for the season. If a tie occurs, we will have a tie-breaker match.


About Season 1:
Season 1 of our Deck Construct league will be having it's first event in the month of September. The games will continue until February when the winner will be announced.

November 7th : Extended Game Day

Ventrilo
The workstation league has it's own ventrillo server to handle the complication of communication when on workstation. While it is not required to have ventrilo in order to participate it is encouraged that you get it and install it as it will simplify communication during games. If you wish to use ventrilo and don't know how to get it, here is instructions:
1) Download the client from the main website here.
2) Configure your ventrilo to connect to our server. Here is a video that shows how you go about installing and setting it up Video
3) After you download and install, set yourself up a username.


Our Server information will be posted when the server has been brought back online.
