Death Match Combat.

In DMC if two opposing creatures would kill eachother in combat a quick coin toss is held. Winner's creature survives. The loser's of course dies.

Example:

Player 1 attacks with Gladecover Scout a 1/1 creature
Player 2 blocks with Elite Vanguard a 2/1 creature
A coin toss is held. Attacking player chooses first. Player 1 chooses heads, Player 2 gets tails.
Coin is tossed.
Lands on heads.
Player 1's creature takes no damage and survives.
Player 2's creature takes all damage and dies.

This could also be done with dice and attacking player chooses odds/evens.]]>

So i decided to remix the lyrics and came up with this.
Please note this is only a beginning step and i'll go back over it and clean and improve where needed.

Looking at what I've been seeing in just over-all play lately I've got some predictions on what standard is going to start looking like on these two cards being banned.

Alex mentioned that Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle based decks will probably see more play again and I'm agreeing with him on that, but what I expect to hit the table far more is Infect decks.

I'm really hoping I'm wrong about this as I've decided I'm not a fan of the mechanic since there is so little out to deal with it. At the moment the only real defense card for Infect in standard is Melira, Sylvok Outcast . This is just my assumption but what do you guys think we're going to be seeing more of?]]>

There are a few Phyrexian mana creatures and abilities, which could hurt a bit, but the idea is that Vault Skirge can grab some life back, especially once Jor Kadeen or Tempered Steel hits play. It's also a 2cc card that plays for 1 mana, and so dodges Mental Misstep.

Jor Kadeen is a card I've really wanted to build with lately. A 5cc 5/4 first striker isn't bad for starters, but he also makes an impact as soon as he hits play. Every other creature in the deck is an artifact, so suddenly you have a 5/2 Etched Champion, or a 4/1 Vault Skirge, or even a 3/4 Spellskite. It's a criminally underrated card that I think has been overlooked because Standard is so much about CawBlade and, to a lesser extent, Exarch Twin right now.

The 1 Scalding Tarn is just so I can randomly grab an Island for Metamorph or Spellskite if I want to pay 1 life instead of 2. Might be significant, might not be. Also, there are only 3 instead of 4 Arid Mesa because the deck is painful enough!

In the sideboard, I have Hammer of Ruin because it's a bit of a "forgotten" (i.e. unexpected) card, and because Metamorph copying Stoneforge Mystic to get a Hammer, playing it, then equipping to something my opponent can't block and destroying their Sword/Batterskull/whatever will just be one of those cool plays.

Of course, this deck is extremely vulnerable to artifact hate, although having said that I don't think anyone will expect a deck with so many artifacts! (Then again, I don't know how many people at Richmond read this forum!). In any case, Remember the Fallen can help if someone does happen to have masses of arti hate (maybe expecting a Myr deck or something). I can use it to return two creatures because almost every creature is an artifact, so I get more value out of it.

The biggest thing that hit me was these pre-constructed decks that you can buy from stores that include certain chase rares in them. This is probably one of the greatest moves by Wizards to help players construct competitive decks for a more cost effective price. If wizards continues a pattern of putting choice chase rares into easily acquired packs the price to play magic will go down. I for one fully support this decision.

I don't collect magic expecting these cards to hold massive value. I expect them to be reasonably priced so that playing isn't excessively expensive. Magic is first and foremost a game. I'm glad to see Wizards do something to make me think they still remember that it is.]]>

i thought i would inform you all that due to my recent employment i will have to take a step back from my social activities, one of them being the DC league participation.
