Part I - Installing Workstation

1.) Getting Workstation

MWS is has two versions. A free and a registered version. Free is what most people go with. Registered costs $ and gives you some benefits such as no ads, more customization and personal support.

2.) Installing Workstation

Installing Workstation is easy as step one. Just install it to the directory you need and move onto Step 3.

NOTE
If you are running a 64 bit OS, install it to a location such as C:\MWS

3.) Getting a Database

Workstation is a stranded-puppy with out an owner if you don't have a database. I don't want to go into giant detail because I know you're wanting to play Magic A.S.A.P. But the database is your collection of cards. You can't do anything with out it.
Now there is a link with two versions of the current database out (an exe or a .zip file) Download the .exe beceause it is easier and you won't have to go throug the trouble of having to manually adding it in yourself.
If you want to, copy the database files to the location you installed it and replace the files already there with your downloaded ones.
Remember that if a new set comes out, you will need to update it with the newest database.

Part II - Adding Card Images

1.) Card Images?

So you open up the program to take a look at your progress, and find this ugly thing as your card


Sexy huh? I'll teach you how to have it display like this in Workstation and in play.


Now there are two different forms of pictures for your cards. Crops and Full's. Full's are the best thing, it's the actual picture of the card. Card sets like Rise of the Eldrazi now require the full scans because of cards with ability's like Leveling and such. So I will teach you how to install the fulls because the Crops are more complicated, and will not work for the current cards.

2.) Getting the Images

To get the images, you need to download them. Right now I'm going to tell you something that will most likley piss you off. There is no .exe to automatically do it for you. You need to download them manually or use a torrent to get them. But since I'm nice, I'll help you guys out.
This torrent (if you don't know how to use BitTorrent, click here) goes up to 10th Edition and that's it, so it's your responsibility to get the rest of the sets. No need to fear, because there's a site that has EVERY card set. Yup, every set.

3.) Adding the Cards

This is actually easier then you think, in your install folder (C:/Program Files/Magic Workstation) there's a folder called "Pics" when you get the file that you need (lets say Rise of the Eldrazi would be "ROE.zip" you just extract it to the Pics folder. Just do that for the rest of the files you need to add, and bam! You're done!

I use 7-Zip to open .rar files. It's small, fast, and free.

7-Zip or WinRar works fine. Just right click --> extrace and you're good. Because there's already a folder with the set name already on it.

I'm in magic workstation and I'm building the deck for december's tourny, but one of the cards from worldwake isn't in there, What do I do?
