Lately this deck has been doing very poorly in the FNMs I've been going to. I keep changing it here and there but nothing seems to work very well, was wondering if any of you can give any pointers or tips with my deck construction.

I havent personally had a mono black deck for a long long time, but duress, tendrills of corruption, malkar blood witch and mind sludge are really good cards you want in either main deck or sideboard.

If you can i'd use vampire nocturnes instead of the captivating vampires. Contaminated Ground is ok, but not for a competative deck.

I would use Vampire Nocturnes.. but since he's going to cycle out in 2 months i don't really want to spend money on him lol. I keep the Contaminated grounds in cause if i can get one or two out in the early stages of the game i can usually mana starve the other player.

What in your opinion would be the best stuff to switch out to make room for a couple duress's and mind sludges?

Quag vampires, pulse trackers, nirkana renevant, pestilence demon and even captivating vampire are all pretty subpar.

Because that is most of your creature base I would recommend adding 4 vampire hexmages and second Ferridge's suggestion of 4 malakir bloodwitch. Nocturnus would also be nice and they have dropped in price. You may be able to convince some people out of theirs for even less seeing as they rotate soon but not investing in them makes some sense. Getting some bloodghasts would also be nice but I don't know if you want to work on getting them either. One card that is suprising and quite annoying in some matchups is arrogant broodlord. A 4/4 for three is nice especially when very few cards are tournament worthy kill it through its drawback.
