So the new core set is due out next month (As Alex reminded us in the latest DC). I personally wasn't even aware up till this episode but it got me thinking. When he was speaking about the card's that are being reprinted and the ones being removed I had some thoughts.
TwinCast- Twin cast is getting removed. Most people won't care but I'm definitely disappointed. As most people find this card useless because it's more or less unpredictable as to how useful it's going to be, I use it in most of my mono-blue builds. Standard at the moment doesn't see much use for it because there isn't really a mono-Blue or mostly blue deck out there that would see it played. It's not really too much of a control card so much as it is Chaos. I have used to to duplicate opponents spells so many times that they thought were going to be game breaking. And man is it funny when jund Bit blasts, I follow up with twin cast, and flip something like counter spell or one of the cheaper Merfolk, Or the ever funny, the exact same Merfolk you bit blasted to kill it.
Baneslayer Angel - This card is expensive for a reason. It's good, and there is no question about it. I'm glad to hear that there is going to be a re-print to get it's price down. I'm still more in love with the idea of outing legendary rares altogether, but so long as they have them I hope they keep reprinting cards like this, that are so pivotal to decks that have their colors.
Lightning Bolt - leave my 3 damage for R alone. Shock was a nice idea, but it's hard to beat the classic. I have never felt this card to be off power either. It's also funny that you know it's important since when most friend I have talk about creature placement in decks, Bolt Range comes up as a factor.
Vampire Nocturnus - I didn't hear anything about this card and I'm hoping that they do re-print it. It's pretty much what makes the vamp decks that are compettive that way. I would hate to see him drop and not see anything to give vampires that power card back.
Some things I'd like to see
There are some cards that I've been hoping to see get reprinted for a while. I'd like to see Goblin Grenade come back. Just too fun to have for the goblins deck. It would also be nice to find a lifegain deck that can handle. Just doesn't seem to be a lifegain build worth it's weight right now.
I still think they should turn Urza into a planeswalker card. Call it my retro RPG element in me, but the man was a HUGE part of magic for years of it's early life, and some of us story driven folks would like to see him make a return to the game. I also wouldn't mind seeing other faces from the Urza saga, like the legendary dragons.
Just my $0.02
