Card database alternatives

Both new and experienced players probably know about Gatherer, the official MTG card database from Wizards of the Coast. However, there are other places on the web that you can get your card information from, some with features that Gatherer doesn’t have.

CCGDB is a very AJAX-ish type of site that lists not just MTG cards, but cards for other games as well. A nice feature is the Spoilers tab, which lets you generate a card list text file for any set in the game.

Magiccards.info is probably the most popular alternative to Gatherer, and the database that we use here at DeckConstruct. The card images are larger than on other databases, and individual card pages show prices for that card from a selection of online stores.

Finally, MTG Keryas is another AJAX-driven site with an interesting twist. The VS Spoiler (no relation to the VS CCG) is not so much a database to be searched, but more of a visual spoiler (hence the name). However, the VS Creator is actually an online deckbuilder that lets you put together a deck in your browser, although it requires signing-up for a free account.

If you use an MTG card database that wasn’t mentioned here, let us know about it in the comments!
